I was overjoyed to receive this advanced copy of singer, visual artist, filmmaker and bicycle enthusiast David Byrne’s new book: Bicycle Diaries from Viking Penguin Publishing.
Included was this brief description,
Bicycle Diaries, is David Byrne’s celebration of seeing the world from the seat of a bike. David Byrne has been riding a bike as his primary means of transport since the early 80′s, at home in NY and on tour overseas. Through a behind-the-handlebars point of view, he describes why cities are physical manifestations of our deepest beliefs and unconscious thoughts, not so much as individual, but as social animals. in BICYCLE DIARIES, Bryne takes the reader on a tour across the globe (from Berlin to Buenos Aires, Istanbul to San Francisco, Manila to New York) and shares his thoughts on music, urban planning, fashion, architecture, politics, globalization and much more, all through the lens of a perceptive visitor passing through the bike level.
I intend to read this over and give an honest review of my findings. I am eager to read about David’s vast experiences involving a bicycle especially from such a prolific character who has traveled the world. Stay tuned.
The book is scheduled for release on September 21st.
David will be touring to speak about the book, kicking things off in NYC at Barnes and Noble, Union Square, 7pm–Tuesday, Sept 22nd.
Thanks again for the advanced copy.
