Saturday, May 15th, 2 p.m.
Tompkins Square Park

Garden Ride/ Procession/Dance to Save the Community Gardens
This will be a festive celebration of Spring and our community
gardens! Come dance to defend New York’s beloved and once again
endangered urban gardens.
Why: Because the 2002 deal to save the gardens is coming to an end and
the city is dragging its feet. Ten years ago we fought, screamed,
dressed up, and fought for the community gardens. Today these gardens
are once again under the threat of development.
This year we’re asking you to come dressed like your favorite garden
vegetable, bring some noise to defend, and celebrate our community
gardens.
After party at Dias y Flores Community Garden Lower East Side- 522
East 13th Street between Avenues A & B.

13. BRIDGES BY NIGHT- UPTOWN
Friday, May 21st, 7:30 p.m.
East 84th Street, at Carl Schurz Park

Join Time’s Up! for a twilight tour of numerous bridges over the
Harlem River, the Bronx Kill, and Little Hell Gate Inlet, with stops
in Manhattan, Wards and Randall’s Island, and the Bronx, inspired by
an East River tradition, this ride uncovers bicycle access points and
takes in stunning sunset vistas while touching on environmental issues
as overly industrialized waterfronts, highway systems, and damaged
marine and shore ecosystems are viewed.
Though it’s just 6 miles long, the Harlem River is crossed by 14
bridges, making it the most-bridged waterway of that length in the
world.
The last bridge we cross will leave us at 179th Street and Amsterdam
Avenue in Manhattan, from which some people will head to the subway
and others will ride back to the start location. Bring lights, snacks,
and water. Be prepared for a veritable urban obstacle course,
including a bit of gravel, some stairs, hills, broken glass, pot-holed
roadways, stretches of heavy traffic, and maybe even a Yankees game.
