2. DEAD RAIN FORESTS OF NEW YORK
Saturday, July 17th, 10 a.m.
High Line- Gansevoort Street and 10th Avenue

We’ll ride the cool morning air along lower Manhattan’s waterfront, stopping where tropical timber has been installed.
Ancient forests over 50 million years old are being logged for our boardwalks, park benches, bridge decking, ferry pilings, and other outdoor uses; they can easily be built with more sustainable materials. This ride will go at an easy pace, lasting about an hour to 90 minutes with some stops along the way.
So come ride with us! See for yourself how this wood is holding up, learn what’s at stake and find out what’s been accomplished so far to change the City’s use of these beautiful trees: ip, greenheart, ekki, teak.

7. RIVERSIDE RIDE
Saturday, July 31st, 10 p.m.
Columbus Circle (SW corner of Central Park, at the intersection of Broadway, Central Park South 59th Street, and Central Park West)

Come join bicyclists and skaters (and the occasional unicyclist) for a leisurely ride through Central and Riverside Parks. Weather? Our record suggests we only call off these rides when no one in their right mind would have fun. Appropriate for experienced skaters, and bicyclists of just about any skill level. We hope these rides encourage more folks to enjoy the parks at night, without motor vehicles, in a quiet, safe, relaxed setting. The ride is about 12 miles long, and we return to Columbus Circle around midnight.
