message from Mellow Yellow:
Attention Cycling Citizens!
If you are anything like me, you got way too excited about our “democratic” process earlier this week, only to have your hopes dashed by the reality of corporate-funded elections. This was an especially cold wake-up call, given all the amazing bike fun and community we had last weekend with a HUGE Critical Mass, an awesome after party, and then crazy-post-apocalyptic fun with Bike Kill on Saturday…
Anyhow, I prefer to vote for bikes in the streets at every chance I get. Here are a few this weekend…
!st Fr!deay Ride! – 7pm Union Square North, Manhattan
Join the monthly celebration of community and non-polluting transportation! No leaders and no set route, but the sound system will help get us where we are going!
Staten Island Critical Mass – 7pm Steps of Boro Hall, Staten Island
Join the monthly celebration of community and non-polluting transportation on Staten Island!
Central Park Moonlight Ride – 10pm Columbus Circle, Manhattan
The immensely popular, fun, and leisurely tour of Central Park with Time’s Up!
Verrazano Bridge Pre-Marathon Ride – 11pm Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn
Do you ever wish you could ride your bike from Brooklyn to Staten Island? Saturday night may be your chance, as the Verrazano Bridge will be closed to auto-traffic at midnight in anticipation of the NYC Marathon. This is a renegade ride, and we may have to sweet-talk our way through. Vote for bridge access!

(but seriously, I hope to post some epic rants on anti-bike propoganda, the failings of local politicians, police, and of course some ride summaries soon)
