From Big Apple Tweed comes the: “Bow Ties & Crumpets” Second Annual Spring Soiree
From the event organizers:
WHAT: Bow ties and Crumpets is the Big Apple Tweed (BAT) second annual spring social event. Guests are encouraged to wear Old English/vintage attire, with fashion trends that are fresh off the runway – one of this season’s being plaid and stripes. The afternoon will begin with guests being offered light British inspired treats, as they exchange pleasantries, and sip on price reduced Great Gatsby inspired cocktails. Live music will be provided for guests to enjoy by Dandy Wellington and his band. During the event there will be raffles and prizes given away in coordination with our sponsors.
WHO: Founded in 2009, the Big Apple Tweed ride is New York City’s official tweed ride. Big Apple Tweed currently produces two events annually – Bow ties and Crumpets in the spring and Big Apple Tweed rides in the fall. During the fall event, riders don beautiful vintage bikes while dressed in elegant Old English cycling attire, specifically tweed or vintage wear, and sally forth through a defined route, recreating a cycling culture of the 1900’s that is both historic and nostalgic. Similar rides have taken place in over 50 cities in the world, including Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington DC, and of course, London – just to name a few.
WHY: The Big Apple Tweed’s mission is to combine culture, style and landscape to create unique, memorable social experiences that pay homage to a timeless era. Proceeds from our grand raffle drawing of a new bike will benefit Feed the Children to provide food, water, blankets and other supplies to the children that were affected by the devastating tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma. Selections will also be made for winners to receive prizes care of Goorin Bros for the following categories: “Most Distinguished Chap”, “Most Ravishing Lass” and “Most Tweed Spirited Lad/Lass”. Winners of the “Most Breath-Taking Accessory” category will receive gifts from FineandDandy Shop and Ron-n-Ron. Prizes for our most recently added prize category “Uniquely New York” will be provided by Heritage1960 and Munaluchi Bride
