That seems to be advocating violence to me.

A big part of the problem, and this will make me no friends, is that we have essentially a mono cycle culture here, and that’s never healthy. Put google seafch on Cycing in Australia, as I’ve done, and virtually every story is about an umcoming race or one just held. That is, until this story broke

The dominant image of the cyclist is the guy in Lycra, head down, eyes hidden by shades, going full tilt. Most such riders give the impression of being on the roads for training. They are going to the shops, that’s for sure.

Should the roads be so used? When runners take to the streets, they close the roads for the event, or they stay on the shoulder.

Drivers obviously don’t think using roads for training is legit. when they are in a hurry to get somewhere and come across a pair occupying a lane, quite legally, but necessitating the driver slowing down, maybe passing with difficultly.

The diver honks, and cyclists reaction, is of course, ‘stuff you mate’ and it goes from there, spiraling down into the toxic scene now have. It’s nobody’s fault. It’s the mono culture as unhealthy in a forest as on the roads

If we had here, as in Europe, the majority of cyclists using bikes just to get around, folks riding slower sit-up bikes in their normal clothes, that would help calm things down. proof of that can be found in cities where Bike share is thriving.

I also bring in as evidence that there’s much less anger, even while there are many more cyclists, in countries like Holland and Denmark.

More bikes less anger but bikes of another sort. That’s what we need to work on. Mike.(In Australia)
